We are given triangle ABC, with a base of AC and a height of BD. We can sketch the diagram below:

What is the area of triangle ABC

We need to determine the area of triangle ABC.

Area of triangle ABC = ½(base x height)

Area of triangle ABC = ½(base AC x height BD)

Statement One Alone: 

The product of BD and AC is 20.

Since the product of BD and AC is 20 we know:

Area of triangle ABC = ½(20)

Area of triangle ABC = 10

Statement one is sufficient to answer the question. We can eliminate answer choices B, C, and E.

Statement Two Alone: 

x = 45

Since we do not have any values for BD or AC, statement two is not sufficient to answer the question.
