Solution:

This is an overlapping set question, and a good way to solve it is to set up a table with two categories: stockholder and employee. More specifically, our table will be labeled as follows:

1) Stockholder

2) Not a stockholder (Not Stockholder)

3) Employee

4) Not an employee (Not Employee)

Since we are given everything in percentage form we can use the convenient number 100 as the total number of attendees.

We are also given:

Total stockholders = 62% = 62 people

Total employees = 47% = 47 people

Also, since each person who attended the meeting was either a stockholder or employee, zero people are neither stockholders nor employees.

We can fill all this info into our table.

Each person who attended a company meeting was either...

Thus, 53 people or 53% of the people were stockholders who were not employees.
