Solution:

We are given a right triangle with the following angle measurements:

angle A = (y + 10)°

angle B = y°

angle C = 90°

We first determine the value of y by summing the 3 angles to 180. (Remember that the sum of the interior angles of any triangle is always 180 degrees.)

(y + 10) + y + 90 = 180

2y + 100 = 180

2y = 80

y = 40

Thus, angle A = 50 and angle B = 40.

Now we can determine the ratio of the measure of angle B to the measure of angle A.

measure of angle B/measure of angle A = 40/50 = 4/5, or 4 to 5.
