Solution:

Looking at the given number line, we see that point R is to the left of zero and points S and T are to the right of zero. Thus, point R is negative while points S and T are positive. We know that if a number is positive, it is equal to its absolute value. That is, the coordinate of point S = s and that of point T = t. We also know that if a number is negative, it is equal to the opposite (negative) of its absolute value. That is, the coordinate of point R = -r.

To determine the average of the coordinates of the 3 points, we can add them together and divide by 3. Thus, we have:
